Ferret Triskel by GrayWolf

Based on a really fun commission I got from a fellow ferret lover. I was commissioned to do his three ferrets and make them into a celtic design.

In the end I liked the design so much that I, with permission of the commissioner, changed the ferrets to more basic markings and making it a more general design

Medium: Watercolors and Gouache
Tags: cat weasel ferret medieval irish celtic knotwork keltisch knot work pictish ferrets pole polecat
Gryfinch by GrayWolf

I've always dreamt of creating something like this, and with the fantasy fair coming up I wanted to give it a try. Both parts used where damaged. The mouse was dragged in by the neighborhood cat and was missing bits of the head, and the bird came from a breeder and died during molting and was thus missing the rump feathers.

~To whom it may concern, (please read before accusing me of anything!)
The animals used in this project died a natural cause. NONE of the animals I work on are killed for the purpose of taxidermy only and most are found along side the road or come from bird/animal breeders in the area.

Medium: taxidermy
Tags: gryphon taxidermy gryfinch
Dooked by GrayWolf

Don't get me wrong, the Da Vinci code.. nice book on itself. Lovely story, though un-original and done many times before, with some good pointers that will make people think. But what works me up about it is people seeing it as the second bible, believing every written word of it including the already proven hoax; The Priory of Sion. *deep sigh*

What works me up even further is people going to all these places and landmarks and actually damage monuments of historic significance just to find out if the book was right. It's worse then the Harry Potter books, where people actually walked into the pillar of the station (that was just downright funny). Don't believe everything you read people.

So, with no further ado... the ferret that 'Dooked' the world. The grail (being just a grail in this case) in ferret hands. Hey, it's shiney AND it's important to a lot of people.. In short, perfect ferret treasure hidden in some corner of the world

Medium: watercolor, colored pencils
Tags: ferret ferrets holy mystery grail history
Embrace by GrayWolf

A picture done for my love, in less than a hour between him getting on the plane from Ireland to Amsterdam and me heading out to pick him up. He helped me through a really tough period in my life, when Murhpy's law ruled aided by the screw-up faerie herself. It's odd how things in life can go, because for one I never would have thought I'd be ending up with him.. All I can say is that I'm thankful to the gods for it... I couldn't be happier right now

Medium: colored pencils
Tags: wolves wolf ringtail tail ring
Black Velvet by GrayWolf

Piece done for Johnnyk. Gods I hate my crappy scanner. Especially when I have to piece things together after scanning. This painting took 6 scans to complete, and the time it took to piece it together is just not worth the 'quality' my scans give in return.
Celtic Fox ring, finished by GrayWolf

A celtic fox ring design I did for a good friend of mine, Profox. The ring has been made in gold and white gold. The ring band is around and about 8mm high. The stone is blue sapphire. The ring consists of 5 pieces that have been put together. All I can say is that the jeweler did a awesome job on my design and I'm very proud!

Medium: ink and other
Tags: fox irish ireland celtic jewelry knotwork celt knot work foxes rings ring craft keltish
How Fox lost his fleas by GrayWolf

My piece for the "Fox Lores" portfolio;

"How the fox got rid of his fleas"

The fox is much troubled by fleas, and this is the way in which he gets rid of them. He hunts about till he finds a lock of wool, and then he takes it to the river, and holds it in his mouth, and so puts the end of his brush into the water, and down he goes slowly. The fleas run away from the water, and at last they all run over the fox's nose into the wool, and then the fox dips his nose under and lets the wool go off with the stream.

Picture portrays the fox as he leaps out of the water to go back into the woods again. He takes a final look at the piece of wool that slowly goes off stream.

Medium: watercolors and colored pencil
Tags: fox sheep autumn irish ireland foxes fleas wool flea
Portrait picture for Johnnyk.

I remember when we all went to the Caves of Han and johnnyk ran into a wolf poster in the shop there. It was illustrated by this french woman.. can't think of her name at the moment.. but Johnny was in love with the styling. He asked me if I could perhaps draw him in the same styling..
